The Ellis Marsalis Center for Music (EMCM) recording studio is located in the upper 9th ward of New Orleans and was designed by the world-renown Walter-Storyk Design Group (WSDG). Known for their world class designs, WSDG optimized the space to provide a acoustically correct control room to complement EMCM’s large sound stage.
Given the overall objectives of the EMCM, the recording studio was built to provide a professional venue for artists in the 9th ward. Besides assisting local artists, the recording studio is also utilized as a training facility for youth interested in learning recording, mixing and editing techniques.
The studio hosts a AWS 948 Solid Stage Logic console which integrates flawlessly with the Avid Protools and Apple Logic Pro X and Studio One software which are powered by a Apple Mac Pro computer. The studio has combined the use of analog outboard gear such as Manley, DBX, Neve and Empirical labs to craft a hybrid production studio that allow the engineer to capture whatever sound they desire.
